Dismantling first aircraft by AELS in Twente

AELS will welcome the first airplane for dismantlement, an Airbus A340-300. The widebody aircraft is expected to land on  Twente Airport on this coming April 17th.  After its arrival, the dismantlement will commence; first, the engines will be removed, followed by the other recyclable parts. When all recyclable parts have been removed, the remaining part will be recycled. The project will take about three months in total. Never before has such a large aircraft landed on Twente Airport.

This morning (April 24th 2017) it has landed in Zürich (ZRH) after its last commercial flight from Johannesburg (JNB). Deassemblage in Twente

For AELS this is the first dismantling project at Twente Airport. For the dismantlement, AELS has assembled a technical team with as many people from the region as possible, that will take care of the executive work. Derk-Jan van Heerden (managing director AELS): “During the past period we work together both pleasantly and constructively with a range of local parties, among which the airport. This has been essential leading up to our work and in the execution of our work.”

Twente Airport

Twente Airport has a large number of qualities in different aspects for the dismantlement of a widebody aircraft. The facilities present here are very suitable for activities like those by AELS. “We are confident about the future. Talks about further steps in a prolonged partnership with parties such as PPM Oost and the airport have already commenced.” according to Derk-Jan van Heerden.
