About the job

As Trade Compliance Officer you are responsible for the implementation and maintenance of Thales’ Internal Compliance Program which consists of all policies, processes, controls and tools implemented in the business to ensure compliance with the applicable laws and regulations.

Your main objective is to empower all Thales employees on Trade Compliance and you will be part of an experienced team advising and supporting bids and projects.

Establishing relationships with other departments like supply chain, IT, procurement, logistics, etc. to embed Trade Compliance activities and to strengthen the Trade Compliance network is essential to be successful.

As compliance is everywhere, you’ll have the opportunity to rapidly get to know to the complete Thales organization.

The main tasks are

  • Identify export license needs, complete associated license applications, end user statements, tracking license validity periods and manage renewal applications, communicate/monitor export licenses usage, limitations and conditions;
  • Ensure that documented Trade Compliance responsibilities are embedded in cross functional processes (end-to-end).;
  • Manage restricted party screening and Trade Compliance reviews prior to sale/export;
  • Maintain dashboards (licenses, KPI’s and anomalies).;
  • Establish processes to strengthen controls over the organization on tangible and intangible transfers;
  • Initiate and lead improvement initiatives.

  • Strong communication and a “can do” attitude;
  • Affinity with compliance;
  • You have a bachelor degree;
  • Combining a helicopter view with an interest in details.

About the team

The Trade Compliance team is part of Thales’ Netherlands Legal & Contracts department which consists in total of about 20 people, located in Hengelo and Huizen. The Trade Compliance team itself consists of 6 people fully dedicated to ensure compliance with the applicable export control laws and regulations, sanctions and customs legislation. For expansion of the team we are looking for a Trade Compliance Officer. In this role you report to the Manager Trade Compliance.
