About your future job

As Trade Compliance improvement manager you have the lead in multiple “cross functional”  improvement initiatives on data integrity. These initiatives focus on people, processes and tooling. For the tooling part it is focused on both ERP and PLM tooling, the architecture, interfaces and embedding Trade Compliance controls. All with the final objective to maintain a reliable landscape of data which is one of the key elements to know whether and under which conditions Thales can cross the borders with its goods.

In some of the improvement initiatives you closely collaborate with a team of experts on IT and processes to find the right solution. In other improvement actions you are monitoring progress, connecting stakeholders and escalating within your own department and in other departments. You act pro-actively and are able to take a stance.

You are supported by a subject matter expert on the tooling with whom you fulfill a tandem role. You report to the Manager Trade Compliance.

As compliance is everywhere, you’ll have the opportunity to rapidly get to know to the complete Thales organization.

The main tasks are: 

  • Get Thales’ tooling (ERP and PLM) running for proper registration of Trade Compliance data of all Thales’ products (hardware, software and technology).
  • Seeking new opportunities to embed automatic controls and/or approval flows in the above mentioned tooling.
  • Open the doors of other departments/processes (engineering, purchasing, supply chain, etc.) to embed Trade Compliance (end-to-end) and develop instructions/guidance/digital workflows.
  • Develop relationships across multiple teams, at all levels of the organization and work in different project teams.  
  • Develop and provide training to all stakeholders within the entire organization regarding trade compliance.

  • You have a bachelor or master degree

About the team

The Trade Compliance team is part of Thales’ Netherlands Legal & Contracts team which consists in total of about 20 people, located in Hengelo and Huizen. The Trade Compliance team itself consists of 5 people fully dedicated to ensure compliance with all applicable export control laws and regulations, sanctions and customs legislation. Within the Trade Compliance team, we are looking for a (digital) improvement manager to bring Trade Compliance automation to the next level.
