Industries and organisations from all over the world are facing increasingly complex challenges in the purification process of drinking water, process water and wastewater. Structurally reducing the impact on the environment and living conditions is of great importance in this. Using anaerobic membrane reactors (MBR) is the most recent technological solution for structurally tackling these problems.
Membrane filtration purifies liquids by separating them from unwanted solid particles, which can be as small as molecules. Pentair provides numerous X-Flow solutions with innovative filtration products, filtration services and filtration technologies for the production of drinking water, cleaning and recycling process and wastewater, and a range of industrial, non-water related applications such as in the food, beverage and pharmaceutical sectors.
Pentair provides OEMs, partners and contractors alike with the advanced X-Flow membrane technology through a worldwide distribution network. Engineers support customers through every phase in the project, from concept design and start-up to the filtration's final installation and operation. The laboratory, R&D facilities and sophisticated production facilities in Enschede contribute to these advanced solutions. Many filtration projects based on the X-Flow membranes have been realised all over the world. This is how Pentair proudly works on sustainable solutions in an ever-changing world.
Dozens of highly trained specialists work in the R&D department. Various innovative applications are realised there in close cooperation with colleagues from product management and implementation, as well as process technologists. A recent breakthrough is the Helix technology, which can be described as ‘ultrafiltration with a twist’. It is Pentair’s latest innovation regarding tubular membrane technology. The compact Helix membrane effectively solves the main bottleneck in the production of ultrafine ultrafiltration: the occurrence of concentration polarisation, which in turn causes caking in the membranes. This bottleneck is a thing of the past with this technological breakthrough.
X-Flow is a spin-off from the University of Twente, which developed a practical method for manufacturing hollow fibre membranes of exceptional quality and robustness from a scientific point of view.
