Job description

The Europe Sales Manager has direct responsibility for the European sales team for the Ag Spray & Specialty category of the Residential & Irrigation Flow business unit of Pentair.  This position drives revenue growth through market growth and penetration in the assigned territory.  This position will be responsible for driving performance against plan and critical breakthrough objectives including top line sales, new customer acquisition, new product sales and P&L performance.   Responsible for European sales strategy to support sales growth.  Leads a team of outside sales reps, sales support, customer service and technical resources, setting vision and strategy for the region and aligning strategic objectives across the region to ensure collaboration, teamwork, and individual accomplishment of business goals.   


Essential Job Functions

  • Develop and execute comprehensive country-by-country annual sales plans and programs, to meet the Fluid Motion SBU sales growth targets.
  • Responsible for growth of the core business through the adoption of Pentair products by OEMs and aftermarket share gains by penetration of existing distributor/dealers and addition of new channel partners as defined by the sales plans.
  • Manage inside, outside and sales application engineering teams for the achievement of strategic and tactical objectives

- Manages European field sales, develops sales targets and key account strategy
- Manages European Customer Service/inside sales to meet internal and customer support requirements
- Manage European Sales Application engineering to technically support existing & prospective customers  
- Lead, coach and manage all direct reports. Activities to include performance management, coaching, development, training, recruitment, retention, and succession, along with ensuring compliance with employment law, Pentair policies and environmental, health and safety requirements

  • Reacts to present and future market needs, obtained through primary and secondary research including marketing/sales channels and VOC, and translates them into specific growth actions in product or services offering realistic profit opportunities.
  • Position and lead to capitalize on current strategic partnerships, and develop new business within current and expanded markets
  • Contribute to the Development of the Sales Annual Operating Plan for Europe and manage departmental budgets
  • Compiles and communicates forecasts to operations departments and actively participates in the SIOP (sales, inventory and operations planning) process
  • Identify where appropriate & elevates client relations to the strategic partnership level (vs. simply a tactical, reactive relationship)
  • Develops and maintains favorable relationships with all strategic accounts and ensures that high level, personalized customer and technical services are provided at all times.
  • Establishes, communicates and maintains pricing structure in conjunction with global product managers
  • Understands and analyses cost/volume/profit relationship and manages for overall competitiveness and profitability
  • Collects, maintains and analyzes competitive information and market intelligence.
  • Pursues market development activities for existing products.
  • Attends and participates in conferences, professional societies, trade shows, technical seminars, etc., to maintain knowledge of market conditions and requirements.
  • Communicates areas of opportunity for product, application and technology improvements.
  • Participates in the 3–5-year strategic planning process.
  • Responsible for sales policies, processes, metrics, tracking and reporting.
  • Champions the active use of Salesforce CRM system throughout the sales organization
  • Coordinate field sales activities related to new product development.  Communicate new product and customer feedback to the internal organization, including voice of the customer. Aggressively penetrate new products, following launch within assigned territories.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues in all functions and locations, to ensure the overall Ag Spray & Specialty objectives and goals are met.
  • Responsible for facilitating the training & development of sales talent. 
  • Additional responsibilities as required for Residential & Irrigation Flow SBU.

Job requirements

Education:

  • Advanced degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, Finance, Engineering, or related discipline


Experience:

  • 10+ years
  • Sales Management experience

- International sales experience, experience with co-development selling into global OEMs, key account management, industrial distribution channels & retail, experience developing new sales territories

  • Experience in Manufacturing Sales  
  • Strong understanding of business finance
  • Excellent Communication Skills
  • Fluency in multiple foreign languages preferred
  • Specific Skills in Microsoft: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Salesforce CRM
  • Ability to travel both nationally and internationally – this is primarily an “in the field” role both supporting the assigned sales team and selling. It is expected the role will require 40-50% of the time to be spent in the field. Periodic trips to the USA will also be required.
  • Full UK/European driving license.
