My friends thought I’d lost my mind when I left behind a thriving career and moved to “the countryside”.
Sure, I had a great job, but in Twente I could offer my kids a safe future, with a close-knit social network built on noaberschap – all right in the middle of nature. Those values had become far more important to me.
