Assistant professor professional learning & technology

We are looking for an excellent, enthusiastic scholar to join the research and education at the section Educational Science and strengthen the area of Professional Learning & Technology (PLT).

Research in the field of Professional Learning & Technology is situated at the intersection of educational science, human resource development, organizational psychology, and organization science. The young and vibrant research group combines fundamental research on individual, team and (inter-)organizational learning processes with more applied research projects in which tools are developed to support (future) professionals in their continuous learning and development. Besides developing and applying technology to facilitate professional learning, this group is also very active in using technology to better grasp learning processes and how they unfold. As a researcher you will have access to our BMS Lab, providing you with 800m2 of high end-lab facilities, a plethora of innovative equipment to carry out research and a mobile lab.

Our projects often focus on learning and development challenges related to large societal transitions or technological developments, such as the energy transition, the digital transformation, or the healthcare transformation. Specifically, we are currently active in setting up and studying learning communities to support the acceleration and integration of learning and innovation processes in inter-organizational collaborations.

We contribute to research, teaching, and knowledge valorization. You will:

• (co-)teach in the HRD-track of our leading Master and pre-master programme of Educational Science and Technology (EST) and the module Professional Learning in Organizations in the Bachelor Psychology programme;
• supervise students from these programmes in their graduation assignments;
• engage in cross-disciplinary collaboration with other groups in the department Learning, Data, and Technology, the faculty and the university;
• contribute to the development of our network of academic, public, and private partners in the field of professional learning and technology;
• develop new lines of funded research within the field of professional learning and technology contribute towards the supervision of PhD students.

• You hold a PhD in a relevant area of research, such as educational science, human resource development/management, organizational psychology, communication science, or organization science;
• You have strong methodological skills, and you have experience in conducting research in field settings;
• You are able to create an impact with your research in both the academic and professional fields, as evidenced by publications in peer-reviewed journals, professional publications or tools, and invitations for presentations or workshops;
• You have experience in acquiring external funding and the drive to apply for external projects;
• You possess a (equivalent of) University Teaching Qualification certificate, or are willing to obtain this, and have the ambition to become a skilled and collegial teacher;
• You possess good communication skills and an excellent command of English (C1 or C2) and preferably also of the Dutch language.

• We offer a parttime position (0.75 FTE) with a one-year probationary period with the prospect of a permanent contract;
• The starting salary, depending on your experience, ranges between € 3.974 to € 6.181 gross per month (in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities), based on the job profile of Assistant Professor;
• Extras such as an 8,3% end-of-year bonus and 8% holiday allowance;
• Minimum of 29 holidays in case of full-time employment;
