Internship: Cross-platform user interface frameworks

User interfaces have been around for a long time now. Building these cross-platform has become more relevant in recent years. This most certainly is the case for products running an embedded Linux platform. To benefit from the best frameworks for the known languages within DEMCON, some research can be conducted to determine e.g. the best performance, the least development hours, etc. This internship is about performing this research and creating some/several proof of concept application to verify conclusions.

Assignment

In order to properly test cross-platform user interfaces, the following parts are suggested by the software team:

• Determine which cross-platform frameworks exist 

Currently, within DEMCON languages used for user interfaces within products are (at least):

o C#/.NET

o C++

The student should research which frameworks exist for these languages and are applicable to DEMCON.

• Build a proof of concept with the found/selected frameworks

To determine performance, development speed and more, a proof of concept should be built which can be used to determine the usability (for DEMCON) of the framework.

• Bachelor of Master student in the field of Computer Science, or similar studies
• Experience with programming
• Experience with C++
• Location: Enschede
