Stage: Online identification for blood pressure measurement

• Design and implement an online system identification method for determining the total dynamic system (hardware and human).
• Perform experiments with the system and find a relation between perceived quality of the blood-pressure measurement and the identified system parameters.
• Determine suitable limits on the parameters for suggestions to the user on when to reapply the system.
• The research of this project will provide a basis for future projects, using the identified dynamics.

The assignment is suited for a student from Mechanical Engineering or Systems and Control. The student should have knowledge on (online) system identification, obtained through courses like:

• System Identification with Parameter Estimation and Machine Learning
• Learning and Adaptive Control
• Time Series Analysis

Finapres Medical Systems BV, based in the Netherlands, develops and distributes medical devices and software for totally non-invasive hemodynamic monitoring. These devices are the result of over 30 years of research and user experiences in this area of ​​expertise.

In order to improve the customer experience, we seek to give the end user more indicators on signal quality. For this, an online system identification approach is foreseen.
